Alpacas & Hens
Tino, Fred, Bowie, and Lightning are our original old boys, and they have new friends; Morse, Sherlock, and Cagney. They are very curious and love having visitors to the farm. As well as providing quite the entertainment, the boys also provide us with fleece which is spun into balls of wool which can be used for knitting, crocheting, and felting.
The yarn and rovings are available to purchase for those looking to take away gifts or for a reminder of their stay. Alpaca wool is well known for being a lot softer than sheep wool making it perfect for luxurious items like hats, blankets, gloves, and scarves – and particularly ideal for baby items. Our three boys certainly loved them!
Hire A Hen - Coming Soon
We also have a flock of rare breed hens on the farm which you may see wandering around and they provide the most delicious free-range eggs which are also available to purchase. We will soon be offering ‘Hire a Hen’ where you can have your own hen coop outside Hyem with three hens which you can look after yourselves throughout your stay, so you can collect your own eggs for your breakfast!
